With their vision, expertise and extraordinary commitment, the Honorary Fellows are major figures who have

Dr Jeannie Sun Fong-chung is recognised for her pioneering work in education. Under her leadership, the Kiangsu
and ChekiangSchool was the first to use Putonghua as a medium of instruction, a model that was eventually followed by
many others. The school has also been a pioneer in fostering home-school partnership and alumni engagement.
A devoted and experience educator, Mr Ng Hong-mun has dedicated much effort to fostering the development of
education for the past 50 years. In addition to his long service at Pui Kiu Middle School where he has served as teacher,
principal and supervisor, and currently chairman of the Pui Kiu Education Foundation Limited, Mr Ng has also engaged in
tertiary education and other education sectors in Hong Kong and the region.
Ms Ada Wong Ying-kay and Mr Chan Wing-kwong both made profound contribution to the development of the HKIEd
during their time as Council Members of the Institute.
Amid her many public-service roles, Ms Wong has been active in promoting the arts and culture and fostering the
development of Hong Kong as a creative cultural hub through participation in advisory groups and education bodies. She
is a founder of the Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture (HKICC), and also Supervisor of the HKICC Lee Shau
Kee School of Creativity, the first creativity-based secondary school in Hong Kong.
Mr Chan Wing-kwong has devoted his career to education since he graduated from the Grantham College of
Education in 1971. As a school principal, Mr Chan has been actively engaging in education and public services,
particularly in facilitating the professional development of principals in Hong Kong over the past decade. He is currently a
member of the Education Bureau’s Task Force on Setting-up a Principals’ Institute.
Also an alumnus of the Grantham College of Education, Professor Ho Pui-hung is a well-known expert in classical
Chinese literature. Over the past 50 years, he has made outstanding contribution to the research and teaching of Chinese
literature, Sinological studies, Confucianism and the rhapsodies of the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties in his various
academic positions in the University of Hong Kong and the Chu Hai College of Higher Education, as well as visiting
appointments in the Mainland and overseas.
Mr Fung Hon-man’s devotion to and efforts in education and rural teacher training over the past half century have
earned him great respect in the education sector. During his long service at the Grantham College of Education, he
nurtured many outstanding educationists, including Dr Joseph Kwong Kai To, the recipient of a HKIEd Honorary
Fellowship in 2010, and the late Mr Szeto Wah, a prominent figure in the scenes of education as well as social and
democratic movement in Hong Kong.
These outstanding individuals will receive their Honorary Fellowships at a presentation ceremony to be held at the
HKIEd’s Tai Po Campus on 31 March 2011.
